This ended up on the cutting-room floor of today's IRV story, but the suit against IRV in Minneapolis has some influential and deep-pocketed backers.
Hubbard Broadcasting's Stan Hubbard, No. 297 on Forbes' list of richest Americans, has donated to the cause. So has former Republican U.S. Senate and gubernatorial candidate Wheelock Whitney. Whitney, a boyhood schoolmate of former President George H.W. Bush, is married to former Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Kathleen Blatz, which may or may not be commentary on the viability of the suit.
So far, the Minnesota Voters Alliance has collected about $6,000 of a hoped-for $20,000 war chest, with Hubbard and Wheelock being the big fish in the kettle.
